The characteristics taught in Jolly Phonics would include learning the 42 letter sounds, learning how to form and write the letters down, blending the sounds of different letters together to form new words, segmenting words to identify the different letter sounds phonetically, and learning the common tricky words that are the exceptions to the English phonetic rules, which aids to heighten reading fluency.
