Yuvabharathi International School

Yuvabharathi International School, also known as YBIS,  follows a vision to focus on the centrality of activities and implement innovative practices through thematic links. The school is committed to the highest standards of ethics and integrity. It has dedicated facilities for providing a dynamic and rewarding learning experience. It also strives to build collaborative relationships with the community which adds beneficial value to the school system.

Active Learning Pedagogies in Yuvabharathi International School

YBIS’s most active learning pedagogies are inquiry-based learning, project-based learning, problem-based learning, and thematic learning. Inquiry based learning revolves around encouraging students to begin asking questions and to start procuring their own learning aids and resources, thereby developing their research and analytical skills.

Project based learning, on the other hand, empowers students in their problem-solving abilities and therefore enabling them to procure a deeper understanding of the lessons and core concepts being imparted to them. A third interesting methodology is problem based learning, where the children are given guidance in place of solutions, in the process facilitating their journey of learning to find the correct or (at times) best solution.

Finally, there is the thematic learning approach which involves designing themes that are digestible to an age appropriate audience, yet integrating them with concepts culled from the existing curricula and learning by application, via means of discussions, role plays, and group activities.

This school believes in nurturing responsible global citizens, nurturing and encouraging the students to be an active part of their social service and community outreach programmes. The lessons gained here helps the children to emphatise with members of other communities and encourages them to build mutually respectful relationships with others of different social backgrounds than themselves.

YBIS neighbours nearby local secondary schools Jurong Secondary School and Yishun Town Secondary School, and has successfully built harmonious ties with their neighbours- even going so far as to hold collaborative celebrations of Chinese New Year, Friendship Day, and Racial Harmony Day- and taking efforts to build an understanding and solidarity with their so-called “buddy schools” to exchange knowledge, and hold mutual visits at frequent intervals.
