Garden International School

Garden International School (GIS) is one of the leading international schools in Malaysia with a successful academic record. The holistic and high-quality education equips the students to face challenges. For more 65 years, students have benefited from these unique and innovative methods of teaching and learning, making it one of the most reputed schools in Malaysia.

The school has two centres in Malaysia: the main campus located in Mont’ Kiara and the Early Years Centre in Sri Hartamas. GIS follows the National Curriculum for England and Wales with few changes incorporated to meet the needs of international schools. It provides British education to students aged 3 to 18 years, from early years to secondary.

GIS aims to bring out the best in every student, both inside and outside the classroom. GIS refers to the curriculum taught inside the classroom as the ‘taught curriculum’ and the learning opportunities outside the classroom as the ‘wider curriculum’. GIS follows the framework of the National Curriculum of England and Wales (NC) as the foundation of its ‘taught curriculum’.

The curriculum is designed in such a way that it enables the student to realise their full potential, equipping them to succeed internationally. The courses aim to help the students acquire the subject understanding, knowledge and skills as they strive to become responsible global citizens. The ‘wider curriculum’ provides a range of opportunities beyond the classroom such as extracurricular activities, co-curricular programmes, sports, arts, camps and trips.

Garden International School recognises that every child is unique and has different individual needs. Hence, the primary school curriculum encourages the students to become inquisitive and well-informed students, who can contribute to society, communicate effectively and be resilient individuals.

Information Communication Technology (ICT) is used extensively in different areas of the curriculum. The classroom teacher along with the assistant teachers and the specialist teachers for arts, language and sports ensure that the students get a nurturing learning environment at the school.

In the secondary school, students are provided with all the necessary mentoring and support network required to excel academically. Students are prepared for the IGCSE qualification through a well-rounded curriculum and a low teacher-student ratio which enables them to get the attention required to make consistent progress and achieve their best.
