Throughout addition to the core subjects, children also develop practical life skills, independence, resilience, innovation, tolerance, cooperation and a positive attitude toward others. CIK is appealingly designed and configured to provide children with the conducive environment to learn through hands-on experiences.
The multi-cultural background of students adds an international flavour to the school environment. The school arranges guest faculty to come and teach students and share their experience. The school engages students in activities outside the classroom to provide them with a complete understanding of the world.
The team of dedicated, qualified and experienced local and expat teachers from the United Kingdom, America, South Africa, India, Australia and the Philippines brings a sense of international mindedness to the school environment and enriches the experiences offered.
There are innumerable clubs in the school such as swimming club, cooking and baking club, fitness club, drama and performing arts club and primary glee club to promote co-curricular activities. Students go for an educational tour to foreign countries where they get valuable experiences.
CIS invited Professor Dr Debra Sim Si Mui to hold a workshop for students and teachers on “Learning About Thinking.” Prof. Sim teaches at the University of Malaya’s Medical Faculty and will regularly come to train the students to improve their critical thinking skills to become independent and lifelong learners. Other experienced educators from Singapore and elsewhere will also be invited to provide their assessment and input in order to keep the school growing in the right direction.
International school education is the preferred education to give children a better start to a globalized world which is rapidly changing due to advances in digital technology as well as the need to improve English language skills for effective global communication. In the 21st century classrooms of Charis International School in which smart TVs, Apple TVs, iPads and computers are part of the learning resources- in the classroom and in collaboration between students, teachers and parents, CIS is well prepared to take our children to this challenge.
