EtonHouse Malaysia International School is fully dedicated to inquiry-based learning. In addition to recognising the importance of academic achievements, EHM emphasises educating the whole child, catering for the physical, emotional and social needs of every student.
Located within a green oasis in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, the first EtonHouse school in Malaysia opened its doors on October 10th, 2010. Since that day, the school has been fully dedicated to inquiry-based learning and the cultivation of responsible and compassionate life-long learners.
The founder of the EtonHouse school style was so impressed by the operation and management methods of the school in London that her two young children attended, that she decided that she would consider establishing a similar school type on returning to Singapore.
Much research, care and planning was needed to create a similar learning environment and to offer the curriculum and learning approach of the British system. The business model for such a school was important but what was more critical was the enthusiasm, motivation and passion needed to be successful in attracting a discerning local and expatriate community.
In 1995, EtonHouse set up its first Pre-School at Broadrick Road in Singapore. The school was well received by parents. It provided so much pride and satisfaction to the owners when parents came forward and told the school management that their children asked to go to school on weekends. It was also a matter of pride that Mrs Ng’s daughter E-Ching who was the inspiration behind EtonHouse has obtained her PhD from Yale University.
For more than two decades, parents have valued the high quality of research-based inquiry programme provided by EtonHouse. Building on continual support from parents together with its strong commitment to the pursuit of excellence and leadership in education services, EtonHouse has been expanding both locally and internationally.
EHM now runs more than 120 schools in 12 countries across Singapore, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Myanmar, Kazakhstan and the Middle East. With a sustained demand for high-quality education, the group has plans to expand further across Asia and beyond.
EtonHouse Malaysia International School is an authorised International Baccalaureate (or IB) PYP school, offering an inquiry-based, comprehensive education programme for students aged 2 to 12. The school currently has students representing over 30 nationalities, with numerous home cultures and mother tongue languages enriching our school campus.
Students in Nursery 1 at EHM follow an inquiry-based program, based on the educational approach of Reggio Children in Reggio Emilia. The educational emphasis is on the natural development of a child, and the close relationships the child holds with the environment. Children have rights and are full of potential, and as such take an active role as a creator of knowledge. Most of the learning taking place is project-based, and teachers are active co-learners in this process.
Students are provided with an engaging and challenging range of learning experiences designed for the development of social, cognitive, emotional, physical and creative skills. Within a carefully constructed learning environment, children explore important conceptual ideas and learn new skills. Students have multiple opportunities to communicate, collaborate, make choices, obtain and apply knowledge, and solve problems.
Students learn in a multicultural community where each person is respected regardless of nationality, race, or religion. Students discover the world, its people, and its cultures through direct experience. Through play, study, and the relationships they form, students at EHM learn to appreciate their own strengths and to respect differences.
EtonHouse Malaysia International School values the diversity our students and families bring to us, and feels privileged to offer them an international education in the multicultural city that is Kuala Lumpur.
