The International School Saigon Pearl in Ho Chi Mihn City, Vietnam is more than an educational institution. The Early Years program aims to aid children to experience an enjoyable transition into the formal schooling environment. With their curriculum based on the Kansas State Standards, children as young as 18 months old would be provided with experiences that can boost their love for learning, especially in subjects that matter. They are also given opportunities to learn other skills, like swimming, cooking, and many others, which they can use out in the real world. Of course, learning isn’t limited within the four corners of the classroom as ISSP offers after-school activities such as basketball, karate, choir, student leadership, and dance to enrich them with friendships and close-knit bonds in the school community.
At ISSP, students have the full support of the teaching and other staff members as the school employ various teaching strategies that suit the situation. Among the techniques they utilise are social skills training, accommodations, remedial or after-school support, immersive and inclusion, and the Individualized Education Plan (IEP). They also offer English as an Additional Language (EAL) to help students become more globally competitive. Children with special needs are also welcomed with open arms at the ISSP, thanks to their Special Educational Needs (SEN) program. This programme, which will only be implemented upon the approval of the child’s parents, is designed specifically for each uniquely skilled child who learns at a different pace but still deserves educational support.
