International School of Myanmar

International School of Myanmar (ISM) is one of the largest international schools in Myanmar offering elementary to secondary levels. The school provides quality education and aims to prepare students to enter top universities and colleges across the world. The school follows a mission of creating lifelong learners and seeks to prepare students with knowledge, skills, understanding and attitude to become independent and socially responsible citizens.

Next Generation Standards

For over 20 years, the school has been offering the American curriculum to students. The curriculum follows the Common Core Standards for Math, Language Arts, and Reading, Next Generation Standards for Science and the American Education Reaches Out (AERO) standard for Social Studies.

Elementary, Middle School & High School

The International School of Myanmar is distinctly divided into 3 divisions – Elementary, Middle School and High School. The elementary school has approximately 400 students who are taught by 32 expat teachers and 29 local teachers. Apart from academic development, the school also encourages students to take an interest in music, technology, physical education and visual arts. There is also a school counsellor, health services facilities and ESOL department exclusively for elementary students.

The middle school caters to students in grades 6, 7 and 8. The school considers middle school to be a bridge between the fun years of elementary school and more serious education of high school. Hence, the programme has been designed to meet the developmental, social and emotional needs of young children.

The high school level caters to grades 9 through 12. Students gain a diploma certified by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges when they graduate. Students are offered Advanced Placement (AP) courses in the High School which eventually helps them to graduate with a US High School Diploma. This helps them to be accepted in schools and colleges across the globe.

Overall, the school follows student-centric teaching practices which help students to grow up to be critical thinkers and great communicators.
