Marlborough College Malaysia

Marlborough College Malaysia is a fully coeducational, independent, boarding and day International School in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The Marlborough College Malaysia is situated on a secure 90-acre estate on the southern tip of Malaysia and only about twenty kilometres from the Singapore border. The campus in the state of Johor provides a sprawling and magnificent setting to enrich all pupils’ growth.

The Marlborough College Malaysia mission statement is “Marlborough College is a community where scholarship is cherished, creativity celebrated, diversity enhanced and conversation is paramount.” The school’s mission is not only to support and achieve academic excellence but also to encourage children to explore and discover through compassion, companionship and conversation; and from that discovery, to build trust and societies for the better.

This will build well-rounded, healthy individuals who optimize their own significant potential and make a positive contribution to society. The Malaysian campus is a secure and spacious 90 acre estate which is reminiscent of Marlborough College’s expansive grounds and play areas on the sprawling United Kingdom campus.

British Boarding School in Malaysia

Marlborough College Malaysia’s curriculum broadly follows and extends the English National Curriculum to allow for a proper combination of breadth and specialisation. It has been designed to stimulate, challenge and support all pupils.

The Preparatory School includes the Nursery, Pre-Prep, Lower Prep and Upper Prep classes. The Nursery and Pre-Prep classes are based in their separate purpose-built school, directly across the road from the newly finished Prep School. The program takes the best out of the English National Curriculum and integrates it with the rich diversity of the international approach, supported by the region’s exciting richness.

During a child’s time in Marlborough, Mandarin, Bahasa Melayu, Spanish and French language courses are all offered, as well as the greater academic rigour of the Common Entrance course to smooth the transition to senior school, as well as to other leading independent British public schools.

The Senior School serves Year 9 to Year 13 (ages between 13 and 18). The UK National Curriculum is commonly pursued academically to achieve an effective mix of scope and specialization through the IGCSE curriculum (up to Year 11); and the International Baccalaureate (up to Year 13).

IGCSE and IB World School

A broad range of academic development and enrichment activities – whether through societies, lectures, theatre trips, museum and gallery visits, debates, poetry readings, conferences and concerts – form a comprehensive co-curriculum that recognizes that skills alone do not produce well-rounded people.

Pupils study for and sit for the International GCSEs (or IGSCEs) during the first three years of Senior School. The IGSCEs are a set of certificates generally taken at the end of British Year 11 (United States Grade 10). The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma is an internationally recognised educational program for 16-19 year olds.

Marlborough College Malaysia is a truly international school which offers a truly global outlook. The students in senior school have an outstanding success record in International GCSEs and then the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program success that lays the groundwork to studying at many of the world’s finest universities.

The excellent facilities encourage the outstanding range and standard of the arts, in addition to the range of high-class sports and recreational activities offered on the expansive estate. The pupils at Marlborough are trained to be open to listening, egalitarian and respectful, exhibiting an extremely cordial and helpful spirit all through the year.
