Australian Independent School Indonesia AIS Pejaten Jakarta High School was founded in 1996 in response to a demand for inclusive education within international schools in Indonesia. With the involvement and support of professional educators, diplomatic and commercial representatives, together with a group of committed parents, Penny and Peter McGuckian set about founding the school on 1st May 1996, and the school opened on 15 July 1996 with an initial enrollment of eleven students and five teachers.

Australian Curriculum for Secondary School

The campus only offers secondary school education. Offering from Year 7 to Year 10, the school based on the Australian Curriculum which is targeted at expanding students’ learning experiences while consolidating a solid educational foundation, preparing students for senior high school studies through the provisions of learning areas, with increasing opportunities to specialise.

AIS Pejaten Jakarta follows a curriculum guideline that defines essential and developmentally appropriate skills at each level of schooling. For those students in Year 11 & Year 12 will attend to International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP) which provides an internationally accepted qualification for entry into higher education and is recognized by universities worldwide. The programme is highly favoured as it maintains a reputation of producing critical-thinking students who have honed their research skills as well as other personal values.

Students are given ample opportunities to collaborate and engage in quality practice, both in or out of the classrooms, ultimately gaining the necessary skills, knowledge and competence required for success in the 21st century.
