Founded in 1983, Cempaka International School Cheras has expanded greatly to form the Cempaka group of schools which comprises of two schools in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. Dato’ Freida Pilus started Cempaka School in a rented bungalow to provide the best possible education for her sons.
The Cempaka School has expanded since then to become the Cempaka Group of Schools – a group of private and international schools in Kuala Lumpur & Selangor, comprising of two schools, spread over two campuses – one called Cempaka International School Damansara Heights, and one in Cheras.
The school aims to raise students who are all-rounders, maintaining a strong academic as well as co-curricular activity record as they continue to keep up their character strength and humility. Cempaka International School Cheras creates a competitive but nurturing environment in which children thrive and emerge as leaders in their respective fields.

Students range in age from four (Reception) to eighteen (A-Levels). Though Cempaka has expanded and modernized, and continues to be at the cutting edge of modern education, it has remained true to its original ideals: a school by a family for a family.
This school is one of the leading schools in Malaysia. It follows the UK-based Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) curriculum, International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB – DP) and Global Assessment Certificate (GAC).
Students of year 7-11 are offered IGCSE along with IB DP and GAC programme. The school strives to create a modern learning environment against the Asian setting. Students learn varied skills such as entrepreneurship, communication, design, innovation, global awareness, cultural understanding, media skills, information literacy, art appreciation and environmental responsibility. These learnings are inbuilt in the formal curriculum and the co-curricular activities.
The Cempaka International School Cheras provides all the necessary facilities required for any student to shine. Students are provided with their own locker. The school has a massive library equipped with all the necessary books within and outside the curriculum.
The school has three modern laboratories for Physics, Chemistry and Biology. There is also an extensive cafeteria, pizza kiosk and bakeshop serving delicious healthy meals. Students can follow their passion in a number of co-curricular activities such as fencing, water polo, wall climbing and others. The school has an extensive rugby field and frisbee field. It also has a large 487 seater auditorium where various programmes are conducted.
