Australian Independent School AIS Kemang Jakarta Primary was founded in 1996 in response to a demand for inclusive education within international schools in Indonesia. With the involvement and support of professional educators, diplomatic and commercial representatives, together with a group of committed parents, Penny and Peter McGuckian set about founding the school on 1st May 1996, and the school opened on 15 July 1996 with an initial enrolment of eleven students and five teachers.

The vision of AIS Kemang Jakarta is to ensure students become confident, capable and socially aware global citizens who contribute meaningfully to the communities in which they choose to live and work. While their mission is to achieve this through the provision of high quality, inclusive learning experiences, differentiated to meet individual needs.

The school supports student learning with excellent teachers equipped with up-to-date teaching materials and technological resources. The school believes that learning takes place in an atmosphere of respect and support, acknowledging and celebrating differences while also encouraging empathy, compassion, understanding and respect for human dignity.

For this particular campus, the school offers education from preschool to primary level. The school encourages Play-Based Learning for the preschoolers as it is one of the best and most natural learning methods for all children. The school’s Australian Early Years Curriculum provides a child-focused environment that promotes a sense of wonder, investigation and interest in the world in which we live.
