APU American International School follows three basic values - Academic Excellence, Empowerment and Social Responsibility. It ensures that learning promotes creativity and critical thinking as a part of academic excellence. It empowers students to learn independently and lead their communities on the basis of their strengths and interests. It also teaches students to have empathy and have a feeling of personal responsibility to people around them. This helps them to be a leader in both professional and personal world.
The school was founded in 2004 and is reputed to provide quality American education in Vietnam. The curriculum is approved by the state of California and is considered to be a model curriculum in Vietnam so far as the US approach is concerned. The model has been designed through intense research and incorporates 6 essential aspects - Critical Thinking, Cooperative Learning, Essential Questions, Project Based Learning, Learning for Life and Student-Centred Learning. After completion of high school, students can either join an American university in Vietnam or attend any US university. Students are also provided with an optional university preparatory programme.
The school also hosts various cultural exchange programmes with universities in the US where students and faculty get an opportunity to meet and learn from faculty and students from the US.
