Malacca Expatriate School is a coeducational international school that caters to the needs of the expatriate as well as the local community in Malaysia. MES follows the British International Curriculum for the primary and secondary school. The academic year runs from September to July. The performance of the students is evaluated internally every year and through Cambridge Checkpoint at the end of Year 6 and 9 externally. In Year 10, students begin a 2-year course leading to IGCSE exams.
The MES Primary School follows the framework of the Cambridge Primary education programme. The programme covers an international curriculum coupled with complete support for the teachers and regular assessment. Cambridge Primary covers the subjects of English, English as a second language, Mathematics and Science. The curriculum includes various hands-on experiences, audio-visual resources and field trips for the students.
The secondary school follows the Cambridge IGCSE programme for the students. Cambridge Secondary 1 curriculum is followed for the lower secondary school (Years 7 to 9). It aims to strengthen the knowledge and skills of students in core subjects. Cambridge Secondary 2 is followed by Upper Secondary school (Years 10 and 11). The curriculum is based on the International General Certificate of Secondary Examination (IGCSE) syllabus.
